Norfolk County Council: Prince of Wales Road will be closed from 40 metres north of its junction with Cargate Lane for 40 metres northward to facilitate tree cutting and pole testing works. The Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period.
The closure is anticipated to be on 17th August 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 28th September 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Road closure : Various Roads Carriageway resurfacing, Acle
Work is scheduled to commence on 10 August 2026 to resurface sections of worn carriageway on various roads in Acle, including South Walsham Road, Bridewell Lane, The Street, and Old Road. Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are expected to take approximately 10 days to complete.
To minimise disruption to residents and road users, the works will be carried out during daytime hours between 07:00 and 16:30.
The project will be delivered in a series of smaller phases to further reduce the impact on the local community. Additional activities associated with the resurfacing programme will also be undertaken during this period. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

Please note that on-street parking within the road closure will be suspended during working hours. We kindly ask residents to park their vehicles outside the designated work area.
Roads will be closed for through traffic for the duration of the works. A fully signed diversion route will be in place. However, drivers may also choose to use alternative roads to complete their journeys while the closure is in effect.

Acle has submitted a draft modified Neighbourhood Plan. The original Plan was approved in 2015. This Plan has now been modified to bring it up-to-date.
There is now a period of consultation on the draft Modified Plan.
Proposal for Acle Neighbourhood Plan (Modified 2025-2040) – Statutory Consultation on Submitted Plan (Reg. 16) In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Broadland District Council and The Broads Authority are undertaking a period of consultation on the proposed update to the Acle Neighbourhood Plan. This consultation commences at 9.00am on 17 June and closes at 5.00pm on 29 July 2026. This follows an initial assessment of the Plan and supporting documents by Broadland District Council and The Broads Authority, from which it was concluded that these comply with the criteria specified within Schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. This proposal is an update to the original Acle Neighbourhood Plan, which was made by Broadland District Council and The Broads Authority in 2015.
The proposed, modified plan has been put together by a working group acting on behalf of Acle Parish Council.
The modified plan includes a vision, a set of objectives, and a series of planning policies that look to shape and guide the future development of the parish up until 2040. Should the revised Neighbourhood Plan ultimately be adopted by Broadland District Council and The Broads Authority (following an independent examination and a possible referendum), it will replace the original Plan and will be used in the determination of planning applications within the parish.

Vacancy for a parish councillor
Lee Smith has resigned as a parish councillor. The councillors thank Lee for her input during her time on the parish council.
There is therefore one vacancy for a parish councillor. There is a technical process during which the district council advertises the vacancy in case there is a demand for an election for this one space. If no election is requested, then the Council will look to co-opt a person at a future meeting.
Being a parish councillor
The position of parish councillor is a voluntary position, and unpaid. To be eligible to be a parish councillor you must be at least 18 years old, be a British or Commonwealth citizen, and either (a) be a local government elector or (b) live within 3 miles of the parish, or work in or rent/own land in the parish of Upton with Fishley.
There are 7 parish councillors for Upton with Fishley Parish Council. Every parish councillor stands down at each parish council election, normally linked to district council elections, and usually every 4 years.
Generally, candidates are invited to attend the parish council meeting and, at the end, to say just a few words about why they would like to be a parish councillor, what they care about particularly in the area, and what their interests are. The councillors then discuss the candidates and vote on which person to choose. The councillors look for someone to complement the existing skills base within the council, or someone who has an interest in or enthusiasm for a forthcoming project.
The parish council employs a parish clerk. The council looks after the play area, the playing field, the cemetery, some grasscutting, the allotments, the boat dyke and some bins and benches.
The council is consulted on planning applications in the area, and on some larger projects in the county.
Meetings are usually on the first Thursday of each month, with no meeting in August. Meetings are held at 7.30pm, in the village hall.
New councillors are encouraged to undertake some introductory training courses, which are paid for by the council.
